With a production based in Surabaya, we believe in building life-long relationships with our partners and community. We are community minded and family focused, forging partnerships that are mutually beneficial, based on real, genuine family values.
We employ some of our seamstresses & patternmakers ourselves. Our seamstresses are mostly mothers. Those who can work full time work on our studio in Surabaya. Those who cannot commit to a schedule, we employ them on production basis. They are only required to come to the studio fortnightly. They take the fabrics & patterns, and sew it at their own home in their own schedule. When it's done, they deliver the garments and take new fabrics & patterns to sew at home. This allows them to work at their own pace, giving them flexibility and an additional source of extra income.
We also partner up with transparent and reliable CMT companies in Surabaya & Jakarta. These CMT are registered business - they employ 15-20 people, who are also mostly women. We inspected them ourselves to make sure that they are working in an ethical and safe environment. On top of that, we also visit them frequently. Once a week for Surabaya and once every 3 months for the one in Jakarta.
We endeavour to always choose hand-made over mass-produced and resist cutting corners at all costs. We honour our customer and go over and above for her, forever striving to do better and be better. For that, we usually produce at the minimum quantity possible to avoid overproducing & ensure all products are made with stellar standard.
We will continue to work with and grow the local communities and artisans around us. We will continue to adhere to handmade production with complete care and love. The key is creative collaboration. We collaborate with eco-print crafters in Bandung, natural fabric dyer in Jogjakarta, and Balinese embroiders. We are doing our bit towards creating a better future, creating socially responsible garments that you can feel good about wearing on the inside and out.
